From Months of Discomfort to Relief and a Normal Life
After postponing his symptoms for five months, our 66-year-old patient finally sought medical assistance.
He was admitted to Çorlu Vatan Hospital with serious complaints that had persisted for months, including difficulty urinating, a very weak urinary stream, and an intermittent feeling of incomplete bladder emptying.
Following the necessary examinations and tests, a significantly enlarged prostate gland was detected, almost completely obstructing the urethra. This condition was restricting the flow of urine and had already begun to negatively affect kidney function.
Upon the recommendation of recognised Urology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Çam, the patient underwent thulium laser prostate surgery using the ThuLEP technique. This procedure does not require an incision in the abdominal wall. Instead, the prostate is accessed through the urethra, which is a natural opening of the body. The high energy of the thulium laser removes the enlarged prostate tissue while simultaneously coagulating the blood vessels, making the procedure virtually bloodless.
During the procedure, approximately 500 grams of enlarged prostate tissue were removed using the ThuLEP laser technique, with the aim of relieving the urethral obstruction and restoring normal urination.
The patient was discharged from the hospital one day after the operation after receiving the necessary instructions for the postoperative period.
